Netflix has revealed a lineup of nine titles as part of its licensed Tamil-language film slate for 2024.

Ajith Kumar headlines Lyca Productions’ “VidaaMuyarchi,” directed by Magizh Thirumeni. Lyca is also the company behind S. Shankar’s keenly anticipated “Indian 2,” starring Kamal Haasan, a sequel to 1996 blockbuster “Indian.”

Vikram leads Studio Green’s “Thangalaan,” directed by Pa. Ranjith, while Vijay Sethupathi stars in Passion Studios’ “Maharaja,” directed by Nithilan Saminathan. Keerthy Suresh plays the title role in Passion Film Factory and The Route’s “Revolver Rita,” directed by K. Chandru. Dream Warrior Pictures’ “Kannivedi” also stars Suresh and is directed by Ganeshraj.

Sony Pictures International Productions’s debut in Tamil-language cinema currently identified as “SK21,” starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is also part of the Netflix lineup. Sony is producing alongside Kamal Haasan‘s Raaj Kamal Films International and the film is co-produced by God Bless Entertainment, with Haasan and R. Mahendran serving as producers. The film is directed by Raj Kumar Periasamy.

SNS Productions’ “Sorgavaasal” stars RJ Balaji and is directed by Sidharth Viswanath. AGS Entertainment’s “Conjuring Kannappan,” directed by Selvin Raj Xavier and starring Sathish, Regina Cassandra and Nassar is streaming now on the service.

The unreleased films will bow on Netflix after their theatrical releases. All the films will also be available in versions dubbed in the other three southern Indian languages — Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada — and in most cases in northern Indian language Hindi as well.

The lineup was unveiled during the Pongal festival holiday frame.

Monika Shergill, VP, content, Netflix India, said: “Adding to the festive cheer of Pongal, we are excited to share a promising lineup of blockbuster entertainment from the finest makers of the Tamil industry. Last year, films like ‘Leo,’ ‘Thunivu’ and ‘Maamannan’ brought immense joy to our members in India and across the globe. The viewing of South content on Netflix has increased by 50% year-on-year, and with the addition of these new films, we promise to make every night a blockbuster night for our members.”

The streamer recently unveiled its licensed Telugu-language film slate for 2024.
