Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doesn’t want to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

“I don’t think that my marriage would survive it,” Kennedy told Variety‘s Marc Malkin at the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” Season 12 premiere in Los Angeles.

“I think he’s right,” added Kennedy’s wife, Cheryl Hines.

Malkin then asked Kennedy if he just wants to run for U.S. president, to which Kennedy simply replied, “Yeah.”

Reports have been circulating the past few days about Trump’s team approaching Kennedy to serve as the former president’s running mate in his 2024 campaign.

“Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” one source told the New York Post. The connection was made “right out of the box when Bobby announced” his presidential bid last year.

“Anything’s possible. I wouldn’t write it off by any means,” the source continued.

Senior Trump advisor Chris LaCivita refuted these claims that the campaign had reached out to Kennedy, writing on X/Twitter on Saturday, “NO ONE from the Trump Campaign ever approached RFK Jr. (or ever will) — one of the most LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country.”

Kennedy announced his campaign for the U.S. presidential election in April 2023. He initially ran for the Democratic party nomination, but announced in October that he would be switching to the Independent party.

Kennedy attended the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” final season premiere alongside Hines, who portrays Larry David’s ex-wife in the HBO comedy series.
